Richard Rousseau has been an active participant in the midwest region's performance community for the past 50 years. He has worked as an actor, director, playwright and as a storyteller.
Richard’s interest in storytelling was prompted by a desire to try engaging his audience without the aid of scripting or rehearsal. For the past 25 years he has been refining the craft in a wide variety of settings – formal and informal – across the country.
Richard has a great deal of experience in the classroom working as both a teacher and as a corporate trainer. He has extensive experience utilizing his storytelling techniques as a re-enactor for the Minnesota Historical Society. He is nationally recognized for his educational scripts performed by museums across the country and is a regular performer at Cheap Theater's monthly shows.
Richard is one of the founders of Northstar Storytelling League, the recipient of the 2007 Northstar Storytelling League Talking Stick Award, has participated in 12 Minnesota Fringe Festivals, is a member of the Mayville University Performing Arts Hall of Fame, and in 2019 was awarded the National Storytelling Network’s prestigious Oracle Award for regional excellence.
